<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's spring! And nothing says spring and Easter more than eggs. Why not use up those old plastic eggs you've been storing and turn them into something updated but with a vintage style? Follow the easy instructions below and make up a dozen or so for decorations or even Easter table favors. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirkFTQ1Pj9J_sbrbwdeoRKmXz_POg4quNAZddBsSJnqdUCdcpjRHrThNn2pA4EYMNAWyfbewsjwopDmGPj5pv415C655kqFF-VVC9ctEr0TvTOw59izavkwLO2jgMEfa5SX_LBlTttkw/s1600/VintageEEgg2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="631" data-original-width="650" height="387" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirkFTQ1Pj9J_sbrbwdeoRKmXz_POg4quNAZddBsSJnqdUCdcpjRHrThNn2pA4EYMNAWyfbewsjwopDmGPj5pv415C655kqFF-VVC9ctEr0TvTOw59izavkwLO2jgMEfa5SX_LBlTttkw/s400/VintageEEgg2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Gather up those old plastic eggs you've been storing or head to the dollar store to pick some up. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVheaSY6abB-GNOsUuZJcfTsr5DLTnJs2lgG8A8RyQJEu6XmHX1U1wUEbvtLoJL-AD3CkxzHdkPHWSHhtz6s9laGSFpRwJat669Y7fBlJZ2RcmcEAZJ7c8GjhJJmtGJ0kGp0BKjTHyHQ/s1600/VintageEEggs3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="631" data-original-width="650" height="387" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVheaSY6abB-GNOsUuZJcfTsr5DLTnJs2lgG8A8RyQJEu6XmHX1U1wUEbvtLoJL-AD3CkxzHdkPHWSHhtz6s9laGSFpRwJat669Y7fBlJZ2RcmcEAZJ7c8GjhJJmtGJ0kGp0BKjTHyHQ/s400/VintageEEggs3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
To keep the two halves together, use up some of that washi tape you've been hoarding. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Or if you don't have any, masking tape will also work. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsAbR0qo7aZrmjEGqlzs4RaMn7ko0jLHFNHw0MqPHzU-ibUsb1GSx2JnceK8bJSHNT8MSd9-RJWlOUmopM25gd1FA-NOM0stMAMAT-U4IkeYnV-WUpmjiZvMSoyNUpLL7dUGaOj_G7Gg/s1600/VintageEEggs4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="636" data-original-width="603" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsAbR0qo7aZrmjEGqlzs4RaMn7ko0jLHFNHw0MqPHzU-ibUsb1GSx2JnceK8bJSHNT8MSd9-RJWlOUmopM25gd1FA-NOM0stMAMAT-U4IkeYnV-WUpmjiZvMSoyNUpLL7dUGaOj_G7Gg/s400/VintageEEggs4.jpg" width="378" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You'll also need regular Mod Podge (matte or glossy) and an old book or hymnal that you can tear pages out of. I ripped them into strips first but ended up using half or third strips to be able to lay them with the least amount of wrinkles. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi15k-u9kDSgfhxQTFQFDFeioid0x4GR7XY7Z-COtWKc7pMR4N0PgZj_PS6aiMDAgvxGFxkx4y8ihBd5LEpdK7EUMOADNkCJY1ZpIaFO4xS-bHEVwVaak-sSUbAGezqBzdq6zrOIca4qw/s1600/VintageEEggs5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="511" data-original-width="650" height="313" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi15k-u9kDSgfhxQTFQFDFeioid0x4GR7XY7Z-COtWKc7pMR4N0PgZj_PS6aiMDAgvxGFxkx4y8ihBd5LEpdK7EUMOADNkCJY1ZpIaFO4xS-bHEVwVaak-sSUbAGezqBzdq6zrOIca4qw/s400/VintageEEggs5.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Cover the plastic egg and backs of the paper strips with Mod Podge. Apply strips all over the egg. You'll probably need to go over spot or two as they dry. Make sure no hint of the plastic egg underneath shows. Once the entire egg was covered, I added a final coat of MP all around. I found using my fingers was the easiest way to apply the MP. Pizza stands work perfectly for drying racks. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9C7ZVOattoUck61sZDXw-tZe26SRoDe_fxfCLCwHzdaG2oKK46PLhQ-S65covODptFML2tfvTpcFtOM_HkM_Enm7LHdvgiviKSEkIxdyDaWqOFeH_ZClyPrATcAc4teFYx4885ww3Nw/s1600/VintageEEggs6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="650" data-original-width="650" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9C7ZVOattoUck61sZDXw-tZe26SRoDe_fxfCLCwHzdaG2oKK46PLhQ-S65covODptFML2tfvTpcFtOM_HkM_Enm7LHdvgiviKSEkIxdyDaWqOFeH_ZClyPrATcAc4teFYx4885ww3Nw/s400/VintageEEggs6.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Once the eggs were good and dry, I painted two and added various trims to them all. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgk6Os_AQ6S8n_lU4LmThjnSSdJk1Agt20E08mzuX7gMGFJZLEGWbksJZnm4nLizGLvlqicVx4YnDWGfMCYIKNRaLFpQ09eoxs1XWKEo2tSriIl4Rw4vTBH3L2ApCdjSUWqqJGAPmm6DA/s1600/VintageEEggs7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="650" data-original-width="547" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgk6Os_AQ6S8n_lU4LmThjnSSdJk1Agt20E08mzuX7gMGFJZLEGWbksJZnm4nLizGLvlqicVx4YnDWGfMCYIKNRaLFpQ09eoxs1XWKEo2tSriIl4Rw4vTBH3L2ApCdjSUWqqJGAPmm6DA/s400/VintageEEggs7.jpg" width="336" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I thinned white chalk paint and covered the entire egg except the heading strip.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Use hot glue to hold your lace and ribbon to the egg. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjR8gOQ1SZCO8o1Pn5PlJ9v5Hb9TEQ3VEvinJUHAfcMhainnhl8N-Vl9OOE7w7KxRNIqvR9D6ZHEkqw9Fxynh0jvEerIiNx09F4-dq7Zl9obGu5cuj2haU1fqAO3uDyHBpGYdTxpS_cJQ/s1600/VintageEEggs8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="650" data-original-width="547" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjR8gOQ1SZCO8o1Pn5PlJ9v5Hb9TEQ3VEvinJUHAfcMhainnhl8N-Vl9OOE7w7KxRNIqvR9D6ZHEkqw9Fxynh0jvEerIiNx09F4-dq7Zl9obGu5cuj2haU1fqAO3uDyHBpGYdTxpS_cJQ/s400/VintageEEggs8.jpg" width="336" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For this egg, I painted it with watered down burnt umber acrylic paint, again, avoiding the heading strip. I added lace and tied several lengths of fuzzy yarn over it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh59UNeb5fVg7MOyry4NN3RSv0BbREn6PvAOwjmxXUPKB6xRjiGY2zdwNP_VdLMwPACIK-ZjGJO0cY9uLTDgslB7hQtm6Kye5Icv2scSAONZew-jZzomwEgUrIN879Szx5o_CGQBrXfYw/s1600/VintageEEggs9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="650" data-original-width="547" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh59UNeb5fVg7MOyry4NN3RSv0BbREn6PvAOwjmxXUPKB6xRjiGY2zdwNP_VdLMwPACIK-ZjGJO0cY9uLTDgslB7hQtm6Kye5Icv2scSAONZew-jZzomwEgUrIN879Szx5o_CGQBrXfYw/s400/VintageEEggs9.jpg" width="336" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I left this egg unpainted. The lace has black and white bakers twine wrapped around it (again, use hot glue to hold it in place) and is finished off with a silver cross charm.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhI60z8rFJWBsCL0opfzYB9dDdXoLYAoDX-E5zkM2S7hA7k-CNXyF5hwOtvrTJQEwBDlW13nF6G2dlTOZ8niBSTKl12D5WANe9dB7hm4nplN20e2Jm2ZG22qHtRiZDGoB7kT00xyfwtjw/s1600/VintageEEggs.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="590" data-original-width="650" height="362" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhI60z8rFJWBsCL0opfzYB9dDdXoLYAoDX-E5zkM2S7hA7k-CNXyF5hwOtvrTJQEwBDlW13nF6G2dlTOZ8niBSTKl12D5WANe9dB7hm4nplN20e2Jm2ZG22qHtRiZDGoB7kT00xyfwtjw/s400/VintageEEggs.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Three different versions of vintage style eggs.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Which is your favorite?</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's a quick and easy project just in time for Halloween decorating! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu2WNyL09ql6ExJCkht9AAvF2BX_dzmNqJQat5Z5kuvPAsYa9TeUiNjxHDHGEdV95z0l20lDx9jYHADi_xrKZO_RD0fF0qYWWXJmyZQdq17r2n1gA06bdikWP0pDKoSRn8Aq3idQX5pg/s1600/JOAS1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="650" data-original-width="523" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu2WNyL09ql6ExJCkht9AAvF2BX_dzmNqJQat5Z5kuvPAsYa9TeUiNjxHDHGEdV95z0l20lDx9jYHADi_xrKZO_RD0fF0qYWWXJmyZQdq17r2n1gA06bdikWP0pDKoSRn8Aq3idQX5pg/s400/JOAS1.jpg" width="321" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I found these cute little paper mache Jack 'O Lanterns at <a href="http://www.joann.com/" target="_blank">JoAnn Fabric</a>. I had 12-inch thin dowels on hand so I decided to create vintage style "Jacks on a Stick". Follow these instructions and make some of your own. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHfsQa75bvue5BZIO-pKU_vrgdUzib18QD03KV37w9JXVQPo1vyBCohcq1DwuE3hRXfegvjlAnP1zp8w-wlrHua2WIjMFNjXIuSu6Ju6s0FBCqmELcG92EoMWWh8xsvkszX69Tq0mlCg/s1600/JOAS2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="463" data-original-width="650" height="283" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHfsQa75bvue5BZIO-pKU_vrgdUzib18QD03KV37w9JXVQPo1vyBCohcq1DwuE3hRXfegvjlAnP1zp8w-wlrHua2WIjMFNjXIuSu6Ju6s0FBCqmELcG92EoMWWh8xsvkszX69Tq0mlCg/s400/JOAS2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
First paint your Jacks with orange acrylic paint. Use brown paint on the stem. Paint the dowel black and let everything dry well. I added an antiquing stain on my Jacks but you could leave them plain orange if you wish. I used yellow paint to add stripes to the dowel. After my last post showing you how I easily paint furniture hardware, I thought that you might be interested in seeing what those handles and knobs belonged to. Here they are...on a nautical style desk!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The desk and chair were painted using <a href="http://decoart.com/americana-decor/chalky-finish/" target="_blank">Americana Decor Chalky Finish</a> in Legacy and then lightly distressed. I felt it needed a nautical theme so I created the rope and compass stencils using the SCAL software program. I cut the stencils from vinyl and painted them on using Everlasting . I actually had some issues with the rope detail on top of the desk and ended up sanding it off and painting it back on by hand. I think it turned out okay! After drying overnight, I lightly sanded the roping to give it a worn look. Next the pieces got a coat of clear wax. Finally, I lightly white washed both pieces with white wax.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjBIbblKRbPF2wKEcauT7aEaWqujtk3qqaZ4LxftjlUycYuVSzypnZcp_C5HeLrZhyphenhyphen-jx8OJzkvuWY25aqDmYmD-aNXlmXO6w_YYU9MXSCn2VKI5bo5Kzz8zjT9qW5Cw-8ytWbyJ0QrA/s1600/KnobsPullsMain.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="437" data-original-width="622" height="280" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjBIbblKRbPF2wKEcauT7aEaWqujtk3qqaZ4LxftjlUycYuVSzypnZcp_C5HeLrZhyphenhyphen-jx8OJzkvuWY25aqDmYmD-aNXlmXO6w_YYU9MXSCn2VKI5bo5Kzz8zjT9qW5Cw-8ytWbyJ0QrA/s400/KnobsPullsMain.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I paint a lot of furniture. Most times I change out the hardware. But sometimes I like to paint them to match the piece. I've come up with a way to get those knobs and pulls painted up quick and easy. And today I'm going to share my technique with all of you! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhP-DHH0WqtijgUHX3spFtx85ia4Ro7IFD8ttywwzXn_3RTo2I4C6naeCIRmgPWa1wvfknPUFHWsGfyb88ug7jo9g9W4QZnHp5QmfthWYYPX5MCvOWdmFUnfCELEZumSZXGQmnKej1y5w/s1600/Knobs1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="650" data-original-width="600" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhP-DHH0WqtijgUHX3spFtx85ia4Ro7IFD8ttywwzXn_3RTo2I4C6naeCIRmgPWa1wvfknPUFHWsGfyb88ug7jo9g9W4QZnHp5QmfthWYYPX5MCvOWdmFUnfCELEZumSZXGQmnKej1y5w/s400/Knobs1.jpg" width="368" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The only supply (other than paint) needed is a styrofoam meat tray. I use these mainly for disposable paint palettes but they work perfectly for painting hardware too. (Styrofoam plates would also work, but I like to recycle) Simply press your hardware through the tray. An impression in the styrofoam shows you exactly were to press the screws through. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-r_gb-lXaMSE_ifpz_9UpFpAmG1BlDyNRGNhrcNm-4zoXXNnjsQhD45kL251leFP3WsdqFLABDrFiB0sj3aApriKaB9TFbqCOPmM2MiYOeAJAyFWzHw2bts0V_yjyG9Ye6sUDYo5S3A/s1600/Knobs2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="437" data-original-width="622" height="280" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-r_gb-lXaMSE_ifpz_9UpFpAmG1BlDyNRGNhrcNm-4zoXXNnjsQhD45kL251leFP3WsdqFLABDrFiB0sj3aApriKaB9TFbqCOPmM2MiYOeAJAyFWzHw2bts0V_yjyG9Ye6sUDYo5S3A/s400/Knobs2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
On the underside, I tape the screw heads so that the hardware doesn't move while painting. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I take the tray outside and hold the tray to easily spray on a primer coat. I will do the top of the hardware first, then tip the tray over to get both sides of any handles, which are hanging straight down.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgL2sHHVN1KV-8kUP70P5cLt33w24F02-iZMYKlxdsr9DLempNDjFsckvw6GbUFNbkvQypnHp6G6cS-ZXlI3WqGaQqDUMV4AE_e8J5MG3tgm0Oqal-WWog5Ebw1HeIclTR4yG6sv6FPvA/s1600/Knobs3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="437" data-original-width="622" height="280" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgL2sHHVN1KV-8kUP70P5cLt33w24F02-iZMYKlxdsr9DLempNDjFsckvw6GbUFNbkvQypnHp6G6cS-ZXlI3WqGaQqDUMV4AE_e8J5MG3tgm0Oqal-WWog5Ebw1HeIclTR4yG6sv6FPvA/s400/Knobs3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I add bulldog clips to the sides of the tray, run a dowel through the handles and prop up on stacked paint tubs. This allows the handles of the pulls to continue to hang straight down, drying both sides at the same time. Once the primer is dry, I continue to use the tray to hold the hardware while I paint and wax or varnish, continuing to hang upside down until the final coat is dry. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiY6rFJJKrxqzs5lsNPWtyxLswwmFAamYZj0IRCpcQPD_DG9f3WV1LYDQqZZro0t8VfZTJPxluuSUvrUIJmPR5UjzVMpc2msU02fipjk2tZSHWJX1ooThevEtXl8tndNZmtFlOpgJ2EUw/s1600/Knobs4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="650" data-original-width="488" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiY6rFJJKrxqzs5lsNPWtyxLswwmFAamYZj0IRCpcQPD_DG9f3WV1LYDQqZZro0t8VfZTJPxluuSUvrUIJmPR5UjzVMpc2msU02fipjk2tZSHWJX1ooThevEtXl8tndNZmtFlOpgJ2EUw/s400/Knobs4.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I keep them attached to the tray until I'm ready to put them back on the furniture. This keeps all my screws/pieces in one place! To see what piece of furniture these knobs/pulls ended up on, follow me on <a href="https://www.facebook.com/TheCreativePointe" target="_blank">Facebook</a>!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Last week I featured belated Mother's Day cards so it's only fitting that this week I showcase a belated Father's Day card! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This one could also be easily adapted to a Birthday card by replacing the large "D" with a "B".</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I used several scrap pieces of Tim Holtz paper, for a nice grungy look on the kraft card stock base. Deckle scissors created an uneven bottom to my main piece. Texture was added with a scrap of burlap, brown & white twine and three metal brads. The large letter "D" also came from Tim Holtz (sticker pack). I matted it using several coordinating shades of plain cardstock. The small "A" and "D" letters were kraft stickers that I matted and added.</div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFEi7HfciEop7FWUnamlriqLZsR7aP16LeLfQUvoOodg56D1Bk6w4rXUh4N6fZ0y6sGI-QH6lPFdZqI7t2_WNalPNliwI8biS4HUHL9UdyittCheLfUXlfebS1sJv31wdHvYwHZNsZUg/s1600/BirdCard.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="650" data-original-width="563" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFEi7HfciEop7FWUnamlriqLZsR7aP16LeLfQUvoOodg56D1Bk6w4rXUh4N6fZ0y6sGI-QH6lPFdZqI7t2_WNalPNliwI8biS4HUHL9UdyittCheLfUXlfebS1sJv31wdHvYwHZNsZUg/s640/BirdCard.jpg" width="553" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I know that we're a bit late for Mother's Day, but the basic design of each of these cards would work perfectly for any occasion. I worked "backwards" on each of these, starting with the embellishment I wanted to use first and then building the card to compliment that. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The bird/flower and the butterflies came from K & Company. Beautiful and sparkly too!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As always, I used scrap paper to create each card, using kraft paper for the card base. I used a Sizzix die to cut the yellow dotted paper, distressing all around the edges with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. I hand cut and stamped the little banner piece. Easy peasy and so pretty! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgt7mn337imTa2t9EVi9FyUkeyW8BNYQ3c7PuKg3ykoBwu4bjtHAMh84c54yjL5CiULBf9DJP9bUlxs5CoV0yyv0ZZbX6QAoH1Hk_zkL5wD6nw33pTm66RmfkRKQuQ7FFBvNE-0jog2Nw/s1600/MomCard1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="650" data-original-width="563" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgt7mn337imTa2t9EVi9FyUkeyW8BNYQ3c7PuKg3ykoBwu4bjtHAMh84c54yjL5CiULBf9DJP9bUlxs5CoV0yyv0ZZbX6QAoH1Hk_zkL5wD6nw33pTm66RmfkRKQuQ7FFBvNE-0jog2Nw/s640/MomCard1.jpg" width="554" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The butterflies are dimensional and feature wire antenna. I created the "MOM" using white sticker letters that I applied to and punched out from brown card stock. The brown ribbon is shot through with gold. So feminine and super easy to create!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One of my favorite things to do is to take an old, ugly piece of sturdy furniture and give it new life with paint and embellishments. This post features several of my recent up-cycled pieces!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
First up is this "Pretty in Pink" night stand. I used Americana Decor Chalky Finish paint (Everlasting and Innocence) to turn the boring brown stand into a cottage style beauty. I striped the back wall of the lower shelf and added a vintage rose floral graphic (from <a href="http://www.thegraphicsfairy.com/" target="_blank">The Graphics Fairy</a>) to the drawer.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzWD-P-boaOKVoqcxVNtOan4Jix1RxmJxazyorcCuDZE8EvTBIGPMFGWVywNPSk5SxDSJ2zY7NkTQX_0rXn3RasYzpYtdtEWajPkAq_ddOqSwG5sp_MunlCvRLw-4M_GmeS97hmpa_OQ/s1600/PinkDresser2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="649" height="295" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzWD-P-boaOKVoqcxVNtOan4Jix1RxmJxazyorcCuDZE8EvTBIGPMFGWVywNPSk5SxDSJ2zY7NkTQX_0rXn3RasYzpYtdtEWajPkAq_ddOqSwG5sp_MunlCvRLw-4M_GmeS97hmpa_OQ/s400/PinkDresser2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Inside the drawer, I added decorative paper to the bottom and sealed it with a matte polycrylic varnish. I used the same varnish on the rest of the piece.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjW0_5u4EEdd8bZwNYPPnCJG1ke_yC6I1HvZJqverGblr2MgkoYGaRmsuyuNlSVC4Cx_xE8tJ93KInnnwn4UUmfi8HOoEMRn3Watzj21akKIbZ3_WD1U6PlX5WrlAyelZQ-xm4VG4y1Lw/s1600/PinkDresser3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="649" height="295" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjW0_5u4EEdd8bZwNYPPnCJG1ke_yC6I1HvZJqverGblr2MgkoYGaRmsuyuNlSVC4Cx_xE8tJ93KInnnwn4UUmfi8HOoEMRn3Watzj21akKIbZ3_WD1U6PlX5WrlAyelZQ-xm4VG4y1Lw/s400/PinkDresser3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here's a picture of what it looked like prior to it's chalky makeover:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhI1aH-hiXVdf1JMfr_oB5eTMR-c8t4tg93d9uOUz2FgqjekTosTJYcMdHUtByJK4uG1Vl46zzqMFu49uah9HhixHirsTc4mz6ee0gDodDNFiII7N6FTfpqGGsKbnIP_hIBfEjgWZQSKg/s1600/PinkNightstand+Before.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="509" data-original-width="410" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhI1aH-hiXVdf1JMfr_oB5eTMR-c8t4tg93d9uOUz2FgqjekTosTJYcMdHUtByJK4uG1Vl46zzqMFu49uah9HhixHirsTc4mz6ee0gDodDNFiII7N6FTfpqGGsKbnIP_hIBfEjgWZQSKg/s400/PinkNightstand+Before.jpg" width="321" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Another re-FAB-ed piece is this awesome vintage dresser. This piece took many coats of chalk paint to get it's wonderful shabby appearance. The first two coats was Americana Decor Chalky Finish in Carbon The drawers then received several coats of Yesteryear and were distressed so that some of the black showed through. The dresser case was painted with two coats of Everlasting and then distressed. Finally, the piece received several coats of matte clear wax. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's what the poor thing looked like before it's makeover... </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEc7-Fa3XFbJ48JVmkul0aupQR0qUEhEiyA5colN-tiYkY07GZwAG6Qs-M1Ioc0WxJBPcCFGcA_2dkoK7ElqQ5hxaybKDoywtQbWclA_3_c9JjDObL25jDkuqtTapzoIpMyBGg_XvF3g/s1600/Before.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="650" data-original-width="585" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEc7-Fa3XFbJ48JVmkul0aupQR0qUEhEiyA5colN-tiYkY07GZwAG6Qs-M1Ioc0WxJBPcCFGcA_2dkoK7ElqQ5hxaybKDoywtQbWclA_3_c9JjDObL25jDkuqtTapzoIpMyBGg_XvF3g/s400/Before.jpg" width="360" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Next up is this Art Deco waterfall vanity. I had to repair the top before I painted the case in Americana Decor Chalky Finish paint (Timeless). The drawers were painted blue (Serene) with Timeless accents. I added a coat of clear wax and then distressed the entire piece using Golden Brown Creme Wax. The mirror was painted Serene and finished the same way as the vanity. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
This vanity was begging to be beautiful! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSgI5oCh_EoNTNCrpPrZjHHnybRfXS_Aq3Ip5SyCJU2h8Usk_J74GlDuM9E0yxS1ZPiWYJF4qG4SQ8VQzl10qwwNxSiEsc3cmJUAy9b7QjfKw0LTNDXnSAhX3JUuYTMX6b6lpvcTeJQA/s1600/16195642_1276423685738282_6821084030922175699_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="650" data-original-width="650" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSgI5oCh_EoNTNCrpPrZjHHnybRfXS_Aq3Ip5SyCJU2h8Usk_J74GlDuM9E0yxS1ZPiWYJF4qG4SQ8VQzl10qwwNxSiEsc3cmJUAy9b7QjfKw0LTNDXnSAhX3JUuYTMX6b6lpvcTeJQA/s400/16195642_1276423685738282_6821084030922175699_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Lastly is this sweet ladder back chair. I bought it at a garage sale already painted (mostly) in the navy blue. I had the same color in my stash and fixed the paint job. Then I designed and cut out the stencil of the branches and bird and painted them in white. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEighoDJrwSkLaF1m_FBxCDryVr4_q_jjPTfHPyVyjCl6uxxYjBdGkT13NeewQ_syLTT_O0kWvWaHkZ-c1LMtnlFgKRSzC9vSbf6GIxxaOomQthPkdYEebgAimmmEdEtxidGGS3QNlF0FQ/s1600/BirdChair2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="650" data-original-width="465" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEighoDJrwSkLaF1m_FBxCDryVr4_q_jjPTfHPyVyjCl6uxxYjBdGkT13NeewQ_syLTT_O0kWvWaHkZ-c1LMtnlFgKRSzC9vSbf6GIxxaOomQthPkdYEebgAimmmEdEtxidGGS3QNlF0FQ/s640/BirdChair2.jpg" width="456" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I sand distressed the chair and sealed with poly to protect it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<b>Big News!</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I've been named a "Helping Artist" with DecoArt. I use their chalk paint almost exclusively in my furniture make overs. I also highly recommend many of their other products (acrylic paint, enamel paint, etc). Be sure to check out their website for lots of painting tips, free patterns and more!</div>

What's hot in home decorating? Farmhouse Style!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Why not use some of the awesome vintage farm animal images available online to put together some farm style artwork? It's quick and easy when you use printable canvas. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiL2U05DKStjJrT_jWhbvOfzfp7xul-9UPMkeOorP-mCKAz31LgWYKo2LXeLbuxHuE9TaR33CVkpwS2wRFdpcwxOMHZaUqdIhD_wLhInYiSVd4E-X22cvZR9Ffh1d7pAvThlJsOwIpgmg/s1600/PIgBaconSign.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="548" data-original-width="650" height="336" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiL2U05DKStjJrT_jWhbvOfzfp7xul-9UPMkeOorP-mCKAz31LgWYKo2LXeLbuxHuE9TaR33CVkpwS2wRFdpcwxOMHZaUqdIhD_wLhInYiSVd4E-X22cvZR9Ffh1d7pAvThlJsOwIpgmg/s400/PIgBaconSign.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here's how I made these sweet little signs:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvQJTDWgA8cQQfugMpqXBpGKE5kPJ7Jqn63qaCpFv7uHo5AthoYfOio8nGEJsUaDjjUgVIMri8uKCZYesYKjUW97DOH1vJEk9FUefFEiVPMRCJdnUjT1NUHwsOFLQ5CYIe5rngS6a7aQ/s1600/Farm+Animals1a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="464" data-original-width="596" height="311" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvQJTDWgA8cQQfugMpqXBpGKE5kPJ7Jqn63qaCpFv7uHo5AthoYfOio8nGEJsUaDjjUgVIMri8uKCZYesYKjUW97DOH1vJEk9FUefFEiVPMRCJdnUjT1NUHwsOFLQ5CYIe5rngS6a7aQ/s400/Farm+Animals1a.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Find some vintage images you like. I found many of mine over at <a href="http://thegraphicsfairy.com/" target="_blank">The Graphics Fairy</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Use software such as PhotoShop Elements to make your images the size you want.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Use a sheet of <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Silhouette-MEDIA-CANVAS-ADH-Printable-Cotton-Canvas/dp/B00EB0CD64/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1497475738&sr=8-1&keywords=silhouette+printable+canvas" target="_blank">Silhouette Printable Canvas</a> and print out your graphics onto it using a laser printer. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgv3KgbMXiNUCfduB1RXk0NRWQI9AX1-3vkByaZ2qHtEhSgLFoO4tOficYIjS5-tWeTbu6ACvxhxYBY39Cv8EISMm1H83b-Ngx4xpbnHhNlPhpmFJdvkYfiuG1yui3ZhkHzzN64E8wdFA/s1600/Farm+Animals1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="650" data-original-width="596" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgv3KgbMXiNUCfduB1RXk0NRWQI9AX1-3vkByaZ2qHtEhSgLFoO4tOficYIjS5-tWeTbu6ACvxhxYBY39Cv8EISMm1H83b-Ngx4xpbnHhNlPhpmFJdvkYfiuG1yui3ZhkHzzN64E8wdFA/s400/Farm+Animals1.jpg" width="366" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Cut out the printed images to the size desired. I had a pile of small wood pieces that I used to make my signs. I cut my canvas down to fit those. Next, color your images. I used several methods and the two that I liked best were using watercolor pencils and acrylic paint.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Once the image was dry after coloring, I peeled off the backing and applied the canvas to the wood piece. If I had any over lapping canvas, I used a craft knife to trim it away from the wood. </div>

I finished off the signs by drilling holes and adding wire for hanging. </div>

On some of the signs I stamped on wording. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In the last of my "Let's Get Organized" series, I'm going to show you how I store my papers, embellishments and ribbon. Shown above is my 12 x 12 paper storage system, which I bought years ago from Sam's Club. I sort by color. Decorative papers are on the top in each drawer, solids below. Above the cart I have plastic containers for specialty papers (Christmas, Halloween, etc). I'll also admit that I have about 15 pads of paper simply stored on top of rolling carts. In addition, I have an accordion folder full of coordinating papers. These came that way so I left them! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Small 6 x 6 pads are stored in a <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Insta-Shelf-Foldable-Accessory-Organizers-Organizer/dp/B019YOYR1U/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1494885865&sr=8-3&keywords=fabric+shoe+bin" target="_blank">fabric shoe bin</a>. My 8.5 x 11 paper is stored in plastic containers, except for white, black and kraft. Those are in an <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Officemate-Achieva-Letter-Recycled-26212/dp/B0052L7KNC/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1494885669&sr=8-9&keywords=paper+holder" target="_blank">office stacking letter tray</a>, right on top of the counter and ready to use. You'll notice that I use my <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Brother-P-Touch-PT-D210-Label-Maker/dp/B013DG2FNW/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1494885945&sr=8-4&keywords=label+maker" target="_blank">label maker</a> on everything. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also have a system for storing my scraps, which I've written about before. You can see it <a href="http://creativepointe.blogspot.com/2011/09/sharing-scrap-organization.html" target="_blank">Here</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRtDbqkqbDmEXCIcFB_07SgyX5Vuh8Ypn7MB_k_Q5Jy4crnvr7IEcS_iPYWBSoCojOvOzkhv_R6zWNj61ilg7YN1QUPMRHT5dgAP7aZOyJh2h07S3r7BK9-8QUu9Mn6YtCerADSjM9Dw/s1600/EmbellishmentSpinner.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRtDbqkqbDmEXCIcFB_07SgyX5Vuh8Ypn7MB_k_Q5Jy4crnvr7IEcS_iPYWBSoCojOvOzkhv_R6zWNj61ilg7YN1QUPMRHT5dgAP7aZOyJh2h07S3r7BK9-8QUu9Mn6YtCerADSjM9Dw/s640/EmbellishmentSpinner.jpg" width="506" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Right in front of my paper work station is this wonderful round embellishment holder. My sister bought this for me as a gift and I filled it right up. She got it from <a href="http://www.hobbylobby.com/Scrapbook-Paper-Crafts/Storage-Organization/Clip-Spin-Organizer/p/20652" target="_blank">Hobby Lobby</a> and I was able to buy additional clips. I organize by theme, holiday and letters/numbers.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I also store tags, eyelets, and other embellishments in plastic trays in a middle cabinet drawer. They are sorted and stored all together for easy access.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqP0uGxKkFMmU5CM0rgcxRE_7x5LHUH8x9kP5MJtxK_6hWY0cGou6SY_xoQy_C11aq_c6jQAzx5_PmQQmnaUQoJiGJ3ycz1YUiljyF8TLszRLtJhSCDf87fRbRoZ4ksf1QAgRh1Vy37Q/s1600/RibbonHolder.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqP0uGxKkFMmU5CM0rgcxRE_7x5LHUH8x9kP5MJtxK_6hWY0cGou6SY_xoQy_C11aq_c6jQAzx5_PmQQmnaUQoJiGJ3ycz1YUiljyF8TLszRLtJhSCDf87fRbRoZ4ksf1QAgRh1Vy37Q/s640/RibbonHolder.jpg" width="506" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This side of the studio has a lot going on! Dominating the wall is my ribbon holder. I made this myself, using four laminated shelving pieces. I screwed them into a box and hung on the wall. Tension curtain rods hold a majority of my ribbon. I really should make another one but I've since hung a lot more stuff on the wall, so there's no more room! The rest of my ribbon is stored below in plastic shoe bins. The covered bin on the bottom shelf of my ribbon holder holds all my scrap pieces. I never waste a piece of ribbon! lol. Below the holder are stacking washi tape holders that I got from Michaels. I love that each row has a strip of metal "teeth" that help you tear the tape. To the right of that are my Stickles holders...made for me by by Dad. These store the glitter glue upside down so that they are always ready to use.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I hope you've enjoyed the "highlights" of my studio storage solutions. I'm always looking to organize better as I firmly believe that it makes creating so much easier and stress free.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here's a couple of photos of my studio...</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Ready to organize your rolls of vinyl and/or stamps? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here's how I keep those supplies organized and easy to find in my studio. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Maybe you will find this info useful for your own crafty organization!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In the photo above, you'll see my hanging system for storing vinyl. I bought the clothes bar from <a href="http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30179435/" target="_blank">Ikea</a>. To the left I have the mats hanging up with <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Crystal-Skirt-Slack-Hangers-Clear/dp/B01EENC9VQ/ref=sr_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1494336673&sr=8-3&keywords=clip%2Bhangers&th=1" target="_blank">clip style hangers</a>. The vinyl is stored on <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Whitmor-Chrome-Collection-Deluxe-Hanger/dp/B000QWFAIY/ref=sr_1_5?s=storageorganization&ie=UTF8&qid=1494336570&sr=1-5&keywords=pants+hangers" target="_blank">Swing Arm Pants Hangers</a>. I store by color and type. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQS0U-B7XPnaKgvGm2-ehIdfckLxPN29Ktw_ez4fuXA6VD3i_-yJOV3CvvUVBP9D7ovtXQAQyt66YhQiDxOGBPub-YMRw1UsZ5DT1sziHPabd1mjXOdSUx3qKoCdqhlLuUqs35GWsDRA/s1600/VinylStorage2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQS0U-B7XPnaKgvGm2-ehIdfckLxPN29Ktw_ez4fuXA6VD3i_-yJOV3CvvUVBP9D7ovtXQAQyt66YhQiDxOGBPub-YMRw1UsZ5DT1sziHPabd1mjXOdSUx3qKoCdqhlLuUqs35GWsDRA/s400/VinylStorage2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Below the hanging vinyl I have a wine storage rack that holds specialty vinyl. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5o59TFLKykKqihHIYTRmcc6f7ZrhF_3bfJYuHaSRX18-JqQaRct88S6_w4CAvgW_rDgdudPUvz_JxgDgPpOWShUGPe90b13sq1gHNJ4l-mbhXH_OBePNDeAsnSWJZg53PbG9TLgVTug/s1600/StampStorage1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5o59TFLKykKqihHIYTRmcc6f7ZrhF_3bfJYuHaSRX18-JqQaRct88S6_w4CAvgW_rDgdudPUvz_JxgDgPpOWShUGPe90b13sq1gHNJ4l-mbhXH_OBePNDeAsnSWJZg53PbG9TLgVTug/s400/StampStorage1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next is stamp storage. I've tried several systems with my wood block stamps and finally settled on breaking up all the Stampin' Up sets and storing them by themes...all the Christmas in one plastic box, all the Easter in another, etc. I bought a large plastic silverware/utensil holder to store all my sentiment stamps. I can put everything, including stamp blocks, in a bottom drawer in the studio. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhU_m51RmaX00raPbbdV29r1aes3q1b21YzJfVRitoQvZY6n8rccG2WImL34uux9ou_Otli7jvciC1oYXBdg1jTFChS3EcXNgWlRHgqllAgUUmlyfKLqNDYbz5epCrZGQQTgR1S9s05rg/s1600/StampStorage2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhU_m51RmaX00raPbbdV29r1aes3q1b21YzJfVRitoQvZY6n8rccG2WImL34uux9ou_Otli7jvciC1oYXBdg1jTFChS3EcXNgWlRHgqllAgUUmlyfKLqNDYbz5epCrZGQQTgR1S9s05rg/s400/StampStorage2.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
On the counter above the wooden stamp storage, I have these plastic drawer systems holding all of my clear stamps. Stamps are again sorted by type: alphas, birthday, Christmas, etc. Because clear stamps have a habit of falling off (and getting lost), I like being able to pull the drawer out and take it to my work station. If a stamp does fall off of it's plastic, I can find it in the drawer.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here's a tip for keeping clear stamps sticky: mix up one part of <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Aleenes-Tack-Over-Liquid-Glue/dp/B00178QQ84/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1494337132&sr=8-3&keywords=aleene%27s" target="_blank">Aleene's Tack-It Over & Over </a> with one part water. Brush on the back of your stamp and let dry. Perfect adhesion!! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I mix up a small batch and store it in a little plastic container. Can you find it in the picture above?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I hope these tips on organization helped make your crafting a bit less messy!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next week we'll finish up with some organizational hints for your paper, ribbon and embellishments.</div>
<br />Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-51833390836753951.post-79084963304999232912017-05-01T06:00:00.000-04:002017-05-01T06:00:29.705-04:00Let's Get Organized--Part 1<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYbZ8EU4thjrK3oXsNIUeNwdWLvfFE2f3PK_FhyUEuK9N80xUdhmo_SLOOXJif87NAuCfjW_xNhhUVL8GBOX7YMPT7IfORZLzA6V-Px0gst6Z2Dy9cbRlh3fywtm2WSEPSZlkJAVcpWQ/s1600/PaintStorage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYbZ8EU4thjrK3oXsNIUeNwdWLvfFE2f3PK_FhyUEuK9N80xUdhmo_SLOOXJif87NAuCfjW_xNhhUVL8GBOX7YMPT7IfORZLzA6V-Px0gst6Z2Dy9cbRlh3fywtm2WSEPSZlkJAVcpWQ/s640/PaintStorage.jpg" width="472" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's been a while since I did a post on how I organize my studio. I've found that when things are organized correctly--like things together--I have a much more productive day. I get very frustrated when I can't find a tool or supply and hate to waste time looking for it. So after every project, I put everything away and start each new project fresh. It works for me and I love having a neat studio!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So if you're looking for tips on how to organize your supplies, here are some of my tips and tricks. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Paint Storage</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For my acrylic paints, I have have this lovely lazy susan style holder (above). Yup, all four sides totally full! I organize alphabetically by brand. Each bottle has the color name written on the top. I also have a cupboard where I have extra paint colors. Also labeled and stored alphabetically in short cardboard boxes. In that same cupboard I have my water color, fabric and oil paints as well as brushes used for those particular mediums. There are also spray paints and sealers plus a few flat canvases. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXNpUbxCz2OXQcTfxT-_3dyOe48YH4PanM5v7nkIuI91PbwImlxWUWMpe-mF117lkXJpDUFUWe4pQC7OwTTd14WF0wZ9KKKRkQOXJDXvoXjoL7EwbvQUG_ZVKwWzZnkvhxXTOmwVFBiQ/s1600/ChalkPaintStorage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXNpUbxCz2OXQcTfxT-_3dyOe48YH4PanM5v7nkIuI91PbwImlxWUWMpe-mF117lkXJpDUFUWe4pQC7OwTTd14WF0wZ9KKKRkQOXJDXvoXjoL7EwbvQUG_ZVKwWzZnkvhxXTOmwVFBiQ/s640/ChalkPaintStorage.jpg" width="472" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Since I am currently painting lots of furniture, my chalk paint is out on my main painting table. The open jars are on the yellow lazy susan, while extras are stored in the box. You'll see that some other paints are there as well. Between the lazy susan, cardboard box and plastic tote, I have all the paints corraled and tidy and easy to find. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcLkisuaiTsE73xt9pXkNc25mMbsrTFppBuhQ7JypuJC8LXXV2h-ZRPGHSjZ3Fbs3geSz1WpoSNj5dhZWHQ07GYJu4WUZXp4BIgW8PMjVvwTHbCeyY5skz_3WRrQuSyxTJaJD-C03z4g/s1600/InkStorage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcLkisuaiTsE73xt9pXkNc25mMbsrTFppBuhQ7JypuJC8LXXV2h-ZRPGHSjZ3Fbs3geSz1WpoSNj5dhZWHQ07GYJu4WUZXp4BIgW8PMjVvwTHbCeyY5skz_3WRrQuSyxTJaJD-C03z4g/s640/InkStorage.jpg" width="472" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Ink Storage</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Behind the paint I have some of my inks. All the Distress Inks are labeled and put into this plastic spinner. Clipped to the sides are the sample sheets...perfect for matching up the right color. The top holds alcohol inks and patinas. On a little shelf to the right of this I have my Distress markers. And next to that are my Archival Inks, displayed in an upcycled <a href="http://creativepointe.blogspot.com/2011/09/sharing-challenge-entry-altered-ink-box.html" target="_blank">wine box</a>. I have distress ink applicators for each color (a tip from Tim Holtz himself) but before that, I had one applicator and just changed out the pads for each color. I love this little spinning carousel that holds them! </div>

Next week, I'll share a few more organization tips on storing vinyl and stamps.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had three items in my stash that needed to be upcycled. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I decided to go with a French theme, using some of my favorite techniques. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_fdLqQ1_kLxtNYCuQpKN8WQtoodOL_2f3lHsrdLPWDA2sGf-odRCjYRPVFXmNYZnnMnV3DedZAy9cgA1HJ6-rhyphenhyphen4ZWLi20_ne2sysTlZiN4K_jPuJGInMTdlG3LIKr6zu5A27_siuxg/s1600/FrenchCardBox.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_fdLqQ1_kLxtNYCuQpKN8WQtoodOL_2f3lHsrdLPWDA2sGf-odRCjYRPVFXmNYZnnMnV3DedZAy9cgA1HJ6-rhyphenhyphen4ZWLi20_ne2sysTlZiN4K_jPuJGInMTdlG3LIKr6zu5A27_siuxg/s400/FrenchCardBox.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
First was this oak card box. I removed the inner divider and covered the bottom with decorative paper. I changed the inside and outside with a distressed white chalk finish. On the top, I added this lovely French label transfer. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6IYvkYnf2fEK8a8gcdG9XgMgzt903nuArixZGbZa3FsHcn2DtdEMt2r2OERZKp5aJ6t6FNTGaBR28fVQ5JAgVj18qpJN6RoZghUENdTfggMe9MxUx_knsu7tjfqQ9ALc-qOs5J-5QNw/s1600/FrenchCigarBox.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6IYvkYnf2fEK8a8gcdG9XgMgzt903nuArixZGbZa3FsHcn2DtdEMt2r2OERZKp5aJ6t6FNTGaBR28fVQ5JAgVj18qpJN6RoZghUENdTfggMe9MxUx_knsu7tjfqQ9ALc-qOs5J-5QNw/s400/FrenchCigarBox.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The larger box shown above started out as a beat up wooden cigar box. The hinges were past redemption so I simply glued the box shut and went to work, giving it a distressed white and vintage green chalk finish. A lovely French transfer finishes it off. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgl_bfPA0twr3ebEEGbsE0g_IP_0J5UKHaK_e8_rnBI0EBPsOHcVHxlyTPH4W0rekQRKKfM0oGHGf1uagY0udM63x9wyHSR7DwNsgbLfcOh7CqmlL0mr1bU9u3C0WJ9JM-84k0VPnRNfQ/s1600/French+Mirror.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgl_bfPA0twr3ebEEGbsE0g_IP_0J5UKHaK_e8_rnBI0EBPsOHcVHxlyTPH4W0rekQRKKfM0oGHGf1uagY0udM63x9wyHSR7DwNsgbLfcOh7CqmlL0mr1bU9u3C0WJ9JM-84k0VPnRNfQ/s400/French+Mirror.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Finally there is this small mirror that started out as an unfinished piece from Ikea. I wanted to try out the lovely decor molds I've had for about a year. These are gorgeous vintage style molds from Prima Marketing. For my first try, I used Plaster of Paris. I had some issues with getting the right consistency but I found that even if the molded pieces broke, I could glue them together on the board and once painted, they looked perfectly fine. In fact the upper right embellishment lost a large chunk but looks awesomely ancient on the piece. After gluing on the plaster pieces, I gave everything a shabby vintage chalk paint finish. Then I stamped various images all over. A coat of wax protects the piece. I really love these molded embellishments and will be sure to buy more!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Coordinating designer paper scraps were used in these two cheerful cards. The top card was accented with matching turquoise ribbon and sentiment strip. I created the embellishment using a Sizzix die cut. I distressed the edges and added details with a brown pen. A bronze brad holds the two layers together. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaAB_D9G50nHtJ4HeCj4B9Jat1eHSbambvMo1Hcn2CE9CROCEGT_MfdVdH6459M92WSzMTzi3-fVoFCaNkg5nCPBhFR0nMwZmL_yGbLismfIvpU4f3JzdkX-4gMXdDRElot6DH7LCsXw/s1600/Make+A+Wish+Card.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaAB_D9G50nHtJ4HeCj4B9Jat1eHSbambvMo1Hcn2CE9CROCEGT_MfdVdH6459M92WSzMTzi3-fVoFCaNkg5nCPBhFR0nMwZmL_yGbLismfIvpU4f3JzdkX-4gMXdDRElot6DH7LCsXw/s400/Make+A+Wish+Card.jpg" width="366" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This card is accented with a simple stamped sentiment. I colored the letters with Distress Markers and distressed the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I always enjoy using up scraps in cards!</div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgguojcPHxBUtwoMQjxCCki_4GWU2IvcxCSWK2k1AvUfAUm2Wl3FFaoj77sTTrHdff8XwDphMrzFtIsJND8SHBxH8mKliepBxFIacE1Z3_BapnLzXtYmenftu1eNS7sCbpwXJ8_yp1IaQ/s1600/FrenchTable2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgguojcPHxBUtwoMQjxCCki_4GWU2IvcxCSWK2k1AvUfAUm2Wl3FFaoj77sTTrHdff8XwDphMrzFtIsJND8SHBxH8mKliepBxFIacE1Z3_BapnLzXtYmenftu1eNS7sCbpwXJ8_yp1IaQ/s400/FrenchTable2.jpg" width="368" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I recently purchased a new-to-me paint to try on my upcyled furniture-- <a href="http://decoart.com/americana-decor/satin-enamels/" target="_blank">Decoart Americana Satin Enamels</a>. I was intrigued by this paint because not only was it branded as for furniture, it also had some great features. Like chalk paint, you do not need to sand or prime before using it. And according to the directions, no need to varnish! And being an enamel, I knew I'd get a nice shine too. So I bought the basics--black and white--and decided what to use them on.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihtgSHn83feiE4tTAjKxkvLoBRwWWPPbvVedtpdrBl_LSSO0xqfQrL8GuN35GvGfmG3ofXDw0Xdal76X6evFfgVWl3yE9t9X5Ch5r9ozVzDja4eDPB5o60wDJ64lu8lVz54SOPG8XWJA/s1600/10487608.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihtgSHn83feiE4tTAjKxkvLoBRwWWPPbvVedtpdrBl_LSSO0xqfQrL8GuN35GvGfmG3ofXDw0Xdal76X6evFfgVWl3yE9t9X5Ch5r9ozVzDja4eDPB5o60wDJ64lu8lVz54SOPG8XWJA/s200/10487608.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
While this wouldn't be a great paint for shabby style furniture, I thought a perfect test run would be to paint this shaker table. And I was very pleased with the results!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvz3DgWVbEMW5Reum0lh99DW-EfmJrQpyarABtB3Oo1Skp_gim6u5YlqddlanRcqX0_UwgxFrXwY0RAPnQPDXKJaF10JhdWZ1oi1MpArEh82hIzaX5uFoobkOXu2v81Q9eeMWqi_zVSw/s1600/FrenchTable1b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvz3DgWVbEMW5Reum0lh99DW-EfmJrQpyarABtB3Oo1Skp_gim6u5YlqddlanRcqX0_UwgxFrXwY0RAPnQPDXKJaF10JhdWZ1oi1MpArEh82hIzaX5uFoobkOXu2v81Q9eeMWqi_zVSw/s400/FrenchTable1b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The black took two coats to cover the legs. The shine was amazing and the finish was smooth. I left the legs varnish free as suggested. The white top took three coats of white. The white seemed a bit thin but once I got to full coverage, I was pleased with the look. I also used the black to hand letter the French design. I didn't have to thin the paint with water to be able to do the lettering. For added use protection, I did add several coats of varnish to the top. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguKQdTgBBYeRhr9YKa6eTRkngYkXUs9RRJ4aA3WO98JgSZeni5xeQH7bzaPTplIitG4aVllXMFaQgIzarsFuCxjFecX6GNFd4sAnEEBF3fp3SGRMWuy93v36FbDvCviArwWMfDZoXKzQ/s1600/WhiteWashedRoundTable1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguKQdTgBBYeRhr9YKa6eTRkngYkXUs9RRJ4aA3WO98JgSZeni5xeQH7bzaPTplIitG4aVllXMFaQgIzarsFuCxjFecX6GNFd4sAnEEBF3fp3SGRMWuy93v36FbDvCviArwWMfDZoXKzQ/s640/WhiteWashedRoundTable1.jpg" width="419" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Another thing I wanted to see was how this paint would look with chalk paint. I envision using it for shiny tops instead of gel stain. On the table above, the bottom was painted in chalk paint and waxed, giving it a shabby matte finish. The top, done in white enamel (again, it took three coats) has a beautiful glossy shine, without having to varnish! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The verdict? If you are looking for a paint that has built in shine and durability, I recommend Americana Satin Enamel. I plan on purchasing a few more colors to use on my upcycled furniture. Of course I'll share them with you when I do!</div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXojzPGNesNHecPCuf2HLu9KqeXTYc64_CRLOVoa17iMlgbGiMR8ejfBG3OR8mT8SJ6LJi3U7YwsVCHEmOqgh7-R0Sg9svGzgyThfgf1aulesgDVV3VYWdHvWRR7Apc0obWgeVWuzQGg/s1600/NotePadHolder1d.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXojzPGNesNHecPCuf2HLu9KqeXTYc64_CRLOVoa17iMlgbGiMR8ejfBG3OR8mT8SJ6LJi3U7YwsVCHEmOqgh7-R0Sg9svGzgyThfgf1aulesgDVV3VYWdHvWRR7Apc0obWgeVWuzQGg/s400/NotePadHolder1d.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Recently I needed to make several favor gifts for an event I put on. I had these wooden post it note holders in my stash and decided they would be perfect. My dad made these holders for me but you can buy them very inexpensively from <a href="http://www.cabincrafters.com/cgi-bin/ShowDetail.cgi?ITEM_NO=100156" target="_blank">Cabin Crafters</a>. Shop your local dollar store for the actual note pads.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Here's how to make your own: </b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhV28jUqX8k2V2rhyphenhyphenA2lDI7-vGMcZIeVD4gSD8gak6RSVI79jJ4MQkM0bnP7Lx2yx36-FW_NesJlySZxK-LoLmitZHmB2o6mItPbIOUTNcBoN3OW3rL8fbPFuzx1-JDcAtdSuVUNlGA7A/s1600/NotPadHolder1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="340" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhV28jUqX8k2V2rhyphenhyphenA2lDI7-vGMcZIeVD4gSD8gak6RSVI79jJ4MQkM0bnP7Lx2yx36-FW_NesJlySZxK-LoLmitZHmB2o6mItPbIOUTNcBoN3OW3rL8fbPFuzx1-JDcAtdSuVUNlGA7A/s400/NotPadHolder1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
First I grabbed a lovely vintage graphic from my favorite site, <a href="http://thegraphicsfairy.com/" target="_blank">The Graphics Fairy</a>. I placed the image into PhotoShop and created the layout I wanted. Then--VERY IMPORTANT--I mirrored the image and printed it out using a laser printer. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhY2ykZNqr9_I8PckdF9_0s5KFPkt1r9Fo8NwWcunCWGZDxrhTCwliSBPYDIwLsEHSf5F9MMdXdxG_Dz8LibesmIyQOc1FxHrVUhZYSK8SS77QSwy6FCgm68kPeg_P0PqnjwOlL6GZ48A/s1600/NotePadHolder2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="340" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhY2ykZNqr9_I8PckdF9_0s5KFPkt1r9Fo8NwWcunCWGZDxrhTCwliSBPYDIwLsEHSf5F9MMdXdxG_Dz8LibesmIyQOc1FxHrVUhZYSK8SS77QSwy6FCgm68kPeg_P0PqnjwOlL6GZ48A/s400/NotePadHolder2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next I painted the wood note holders using Americana Decor Chalky Finish (Timeless). While they were drying I "fussy" cut each of my printed images out. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoY71nSmC1GzexXlE6ut-CGyLfT8RbfaTI8aAxnlWJ15Yv1_7c96i7JBHg-_1Mnl5l0jOJoJAKzTDoy3fUSEqxxkCZMy6VapSNXHvzkAy8e3yougoMKbuJfLPQi8HaS6rW8DEm3X5lRQ/s1600/NotePadHolder3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="340" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoY71nSmC1GzexXlE6ut-CGyLfT8RbfaTI8aAxnlWJ15Yv1_7c96i7JBHg-_1Mnl5l0jOJoJAKzTDoy3fUSEqxxkCZMy6VapSNXHvzkAy8e3yougoMKbuJfLPQi8HaS6rW8DEm3X5lRQ/s400/NotePadHolder3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
To transfer, I used the Polycrylic method. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTE_ev8LktHcMiptmGSOBVkE0GcIqjp-JH4pDOJJRrq6x254jNhJrdzcN7uOQtqisaFqC8leYyMC6GlRXYZnqYRAH6_ZVt5d4iwuemDJJJpM3cpck1BJUhAa-gp9WT_XxC9oiCkTZIAQ/s1600/21f598a0-b296-4cea-84aa-2a3641b46ce7_400.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTE_ev8LktHcMiptmGSOBVkE0GcIqjp-JH4pDOJJRrq6x254jNhJrdzcN7uOQtqisaFqC8leYyMC6GlRXYZnqYRAH6_ZVt5d4iwuemDJJJpM3cpck1BJUhAa-gp9WT_XxC9oiCkTZIAQ/s200/21f598a0-b296-4cea-84aa-2a3641b46ce7_400.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
To do this, simply paint a coat of poly where your image will be placed. While still wet, brush poly over the reversed side of the image. Flip the image over onto the wet surface. Brush another coat of poly on top of your image and smooth out, using your fingers or brush. You want to make sure that there are no bubbles trapped under the paper image. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXwiyqcyzNNyxs6So2PpV8hc_JO9EpKqcDR_PuP-n6ryyyBSDIk0MQbX7UcQeVEPa_0jLHZo4rVPNOAayvpvbVHvKk4G-NhKzNkS9sfyZLn7whCwwf-xkHnuGE-Rc_9qEFdZjOJZXVKQ/s1600/NotePadHolder4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXwiyqcyzNNyxs6So2PpV8hc_JO9EpKqcDR_PuP-n6ryyyBSDIk0MQbX7UcQeVEPa_0jLHZo4rVPNOAayvpvbVHvKk4G-NhKzNkS9sfyZLn7whCwwf-xkHnuGE-Rc_9qEFdZjOJZXVKQ/s400/NotePadHolder4.jpg" width="323" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now let the image dry. It doesn't take long. I like to do this in the morning and then come back to it after lunch. Once dry, you want to wet the paper to reveal the image. You can use a sponge or spray bottle but get the paper as wet as possible. Let it sit for about 10 minutes and then wet again. Take your finger and gently start to rub the paper away from the image. It may take more water spritzes to remove all the paper. If some of the transfer comes off, you can leave it as is (giving your piece a true vintage look) or you can touch up with black paint. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1Ug1hZaECcn-PDIRQNY1KMbfPI9DiIi-etrKikLIU9neGAsZEASz3M7fdksFtQ3q-DQdJ7GAgjznMxqHW_bOh5zvjn0Z90X9qdPs6ryKWdpuEi8g8G3dmlD80HNLzTG_RrydqyTAjhA/s1600/NotePadHolder5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="340" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1Ug1hZaECcn-PDIRQNY1KMbfPI9DiIi-etrKikLIU9neGAsZEASz3M7fdksFtQ3q-DQdJ7GAgjznMxqHW_bOh5zvjn0Z90X9qdPs6ryKWdpuEi8g8G3dmlD80HNLzTG_RrydqyTAjhA/s400/NotePadHolder5.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Once I removed the paper, I gave the top of the note holder one more coat of poly. I did this because I wanted to shade around the image and if I didn't, any remaining paper around the image grabs the paint. Once that was dry, I used brown acrylic paint to shade the image and around the letters. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgI6Wuxlp2wm0P13H1jHBMGnAhsH2XKKcj_aa95-xUFe4U3pUyTAg3JR3GXcLAHogS6-ME-CoNHVJ67AwambkoweEmblknGppJVFK5IAzKC8vbGdiBk_QGjZXELqHJkrEOaIgu_-6tVSw/s1600/NotePadHolder6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="318" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgI6Wuxlp2wm0P13H1jHBMGnAhsH2XKKcj_aa95-xUFe4U3pUyTAg3JR3GXcLAHogS6-ME-CoNHVJ67AwambkoweEmblknGppJVFK5IAzKC8vbGdiBk_QGjZXELqHJkrEOaIgu_-6tVSw/s400/NotePadHolder6.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also shaded around the entire holder bottom, sides, and back. I then flyspecked the entire piece. Once everything was dry, I brushed on a final coat of polycrylic. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9m6LeeN3w4G7P8260pQr2UXERfujRcWwa4ZKNQFGVq8glP4oUO46RtjqaSry33xh9N0mJvsO3mmdHng3Io6vpsnqHaAy56-45NvSm4z4Bj6YKqro63Jrn8ppuYW2KW4Dt83zlT5uCDg/s1600/NotePadHolder6b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9m6LeeN3w4G7P8260pQr2UXERfujRcWwa4ZKNQFGVq8glP4oUO46RtjqaSry33xh9N0mJvsO3mmdHng3Io6vpsnqHaAy56-45NvSm4z4Bj6YKqro63Jrn8ppuYW2KW4Dt83zlT5uCDg/s400/NotePadHolder6b.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Using double sided tape, add a strip to the back of a post it note stack and attach the pad to the holder.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgejp9YH3CEFOV5kSUWO23R5nehgw2VAT6br8ndb0ElD4jfp6exrnZ3rWFLCDwRb40WUGxTucoH9d83yE1Ai651ZNYouZ_3brgg57eCIgLxWF4gS38YM5rXZ8T_NqRlVXSlmJA7hBL93Q/s1600/NotePadHolder1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgejp9YH3CEFOV5kSUWO23R5nehgw2VAT6br8ndb0ElD4jfp6exrnZ3rWFLCDwRb40WUGxTucoH9d83yE1Ai651ZNYouZ_3brgg57eCIgLxWF4gS38YM5rXZ8T_NqRlVXSlmJA7hBL93Q/s400/NotePadHolder1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's going to be about a month before I see any flowers popping up here in northern Michigan. So it brought some happiness into the studio when I put together these cheerful floral cards. Both feature coordinating scrap paper that I layered onto a card stock base.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The top card's floral layer is matted with brown card stock. Over that I added another similar scrap (also layered with darker brown card stock). I matched up the ribbon with the color of the sentiment sticker. The embellishment is a die cut two layer flower that I accented with distress ink and markers. The pieces are held together with a bronze brad. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKBL5MRrPWVd6wP_WW7YIcGM4kO80xxMSBnzLtcg4o_lrxcymRf1_He_032TC8nh6VCV-3DS8gqoW97e1KSWhhtYvwXKDTj2BmR6eQcbf27Q2RVuoHLhFMIu_VBIU26CjjssMTGwgbjg/s1600/Make+A+Wish+Card.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKBL5MRrPWVd6wP_WW7YIcGM4kO80xxMSBnzLtcg4o_lrxcymRf1_He_032TC8nh6VCV-3DS8gqoW97e1KSWhhtYvwXKDTj2BmR6eQcbf27Q2RVuoHLhFMIu_VBIU26CjjssMTGwgbjg/s400/Make+A+Wish+Card.jpg" width="366" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For the card above, I rounded the corners of the floral scrap and laid it directly on to the card stock base. I stamped the "WISH" sentiment in archival ink onto cream card stock and colored with markers. That piece was then rounded, distressed and placed upon the green piece--also stamped, distressed and rounded.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I love using up my scraps and it makes it super easy when you have pieces that coordinate together. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Remember when these plastic home decor company letters were popular? Well, not so much anymore because I found them at a garage sale for a buck. I figured I could recycle them into something new so I took them outside and spray painted the letters completely black. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjbcC_CByrPpe-s9Txf7mTqtqYCUfYMnhxjJ-ewsr2KYOh490DLViqjyILFi3Fm0GAOYDHC1_gfgNT2BwI3ImFnK-YxIe2DPrn_IcuEcXkzdmB5296fzXpiOhQCop_KTh6wkp1kFbwbA/s1600/HOME+Close.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="292" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjbcC_CByrPpe-s9Txf7mTqtqYCUfYMnhxjJ-ewsr2KYOh490DLViqjyILFi3Fm0GAOYDHC1_gfgNT2BwI3ImFnK-YxIe2DPrn_IcuEcXkzdmB5296fzXpiOhQCop_KTh6wkp1kFbwbA/s400/HOME+Close.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I painted white chalky paint on the front only of the letters. I didn't mind if the paint edges were uneven and messy. For interest I used a background stamp with black chalk paint and added the cool screen design. I softened the edges with more of the black paint. I used a pine board as the sign base, painting it with red chalk paint and distressing. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I glued the letters to the board and added eye hooks for hanging. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I don't know about you, but I have a hard time making "manly" cards. Maybe because I like pretty and sparkly? Whatever reason, I have to really try hard to come up with something that looks masculine. One way is to use my classic car stamp set. Cuz all guys like cars, right?! lol</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For the card above, I used a chevron background stamp directly on the cream colored card stock base. Over that I layered a piece of dotted scrap that I wrapped a bit of washi tape around (yay! I used some of my giant washi stash up!!). I stamped the image using Sepia Archival ink. To finish, I stamped and punched the sentiment circles. Pretty easy and I think it's manly enough. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEbjn2VMAHI8SmmH_V25dRbOiSaWYYNKPz9KxONi7nbyhHSq_ahUVS5oKA9WDUl-N93ygrQcdVAr8EF7OvnUYQNca9LD_Fdx0tXVJ41qtC8JbPAezg5ULqq0eWSZ4pq895MBp1a9YNkA/s1600/ManCard2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEbjn2VMAHI8SmmH_V25dRbOiSaWYYNKPz9KxONi7nbyhHSq_ahUVS5oKA9WDUl-N93ygrQcdVAr8EF7OvnUYQNca9LD_Fdx0tXVJ41qtC8JbPAezg5ULqq0eWSZ4pq895MBp1a9YNkA/s640/ManCard2.jpg" width="512" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For this card, I got out the markers and did some coloring on the black Archival ink stamped image. I wanted it to be bold to match the colorful dotted paper I layered over the blue card stock base. Another piece of washi tape for accent and it's done! I think this would be a great card for that "young at heart" guy, don't you?</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A mixed media collage is extremely easy and fun to create. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For this piece, I went with a spring theme. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You can create one of your own by following a few easy steps! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiV87lKSoqIQt5kL5U4hctqtiRC9xyOs3nt9R5-tSCzDbhM5IU0vbIMbLCoz2wBsXXMx-7XqK7zFpV3v32GynQ1jQ-TO8T-XzWMCMnyWgK-t5wqlidEoflFEoFVypNY4EK3zyKDQ9XNMg/s1600/MM1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="268" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiV87lKSoqIQt5kL5U4hctqtiRC9xyOs3nt9R5-tSCzDbhM5IU0vbIMbLCoz2wBsXXMx-7XqK7zFpV3v32GynQ1jQ-TO8T-XzWMCMnyWgK-t5wqlidEoflFEoFVypNY4EK3zyKDQ9XNMg/s320/MM1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Step One:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Find a frame. I took an old office frame that I gave new life to by chalk painting. Once the frame was dry, I waxed it and then distressed using brown wax. This gave the frame a lovely vintage look. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiIQjuc2JQMmQKh4WhXSLAXA-ETW-NmhTdJSgC9KrZkpinRi_0hBsqX5hh7gFZMtoP88kp0FEFiBZR4LQ9Ls55pYeDf6Wi4kxzEwhvj7YazlheaSTo2-B20qNkS9XZ8Qal8kT25bQBxQ/s1600/MM2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="268" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiIQjuc2JQMmQKh4WhXSLAXA-ETW-NmhTdJSgC9KrZkpinRi_0hBsqX5hh7gFZMtoP88kp0FEFiBZR4LQ9Ls55pYeDf6Wi4kxzEwhvj7YazlheaSTo2-B20qNkS9XZ8Qal8kT25bQBxQ/s320/MM2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Step Two:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Create your background. I used a canvas board that fit my frame. On top of that, I used multi medium to attach a piece of sheet music. Once everything was dry, I used Distress Ink to antique the edges. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMEkTGfaOgMx-aCcsEFUxxotZe3Lt-PZTXy8Tw2JpPpXT3wjy8-Mz59lSFR6hmG7qe9sOjbWaCeT-E2lCV-eVM-KfPBHRLhqvosJmo8Ub1jBljkV6cbCZeQj5dW1ssm8xA6oH1ZV_BHA/s1600/MM3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="268" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMEkTGfaOgMx-aCcsEFUxxotZe3Lt-PZTXy8Tw2JpPpXT3wjy8-Mz59lSFR6hmG7qe9sOjbWaCeT-E2lCV-eVM-KfPBHRLhqvosJmo8Ub1jBljkV6cbCZeQj5dW1ssm8xA6oH1ZV_BHA/s320/MM3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Step Three:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Gather all of the elements that you may want to add to your collage. Play around with them, arranging and rearranging until you get a layout you like. Once you do, take a quick picture of the layout so that you know how to put it all back together again!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used Glossy Accents and hot glue to attach my elements.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>SOME COLLAGE TIPS: </b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>--Decide on a theme and make sure your elements compliment that theme.</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I knew I wanted to used the sheet music. Once I found the heading card, a theme fell into place.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You'll notice that I pulled out many more elements than I ended up using. While this is a really fun step, don't rush it. You'll want to play around with several layouts until you get the best arrangement.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>--Coordinate your color scheme.</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I found florals to match the card and painted the eggs and number block to compliment as well.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also added Distress Ink to all of the embellishments to further pull the elements together.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>--Use a variety of textures.</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The more layers and textures, the more interesting your piece will be. Again, be sure that you follow your overall theme and color scheme when adding texture. Shiny objects would not have looked good with my vintage/distressed collage.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>--Plan placement of elements.</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You'll notice that the pieces in my collage have a "Z" layout</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_sVhYkkefSy2h4xNAHkV46eWjCZaITyfGDyOrsusJW-tHuV-F8A_qg2OoUStQFZuBDTvUGF9rMWiJyQ2NC4ynGBBYLLX2YvnNAqOPn_JbtLqAIyFlU32o-rTFNwYGliGM7zJuKKjTyA/s1600/MMZ.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_sVhYkkefSy2h4xNAHkV46eWjCZaITyfGDyOrsusJW-tHuV-F8A_qg2OoUStQFZuBDTvUGF9rMWiJyQ2NC4ynGBBYLLX2YvnNAqOPn_JbtLqAIyFlU32o-rTFNwYGliGM7zJuKKjTyA/s200/MMZ.jpg" width="173" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is to guide the eye through the piece. Also notice that all the elements are</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
touching at least one other element. Don't leave an element stranded out by itself!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So, really it's not hard to create a lovely mixed media collage when you follow these basic steps. Gather some elements and give it a try!</div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkPrpqxvpy9ft-as06F6-VUs_3izQ7_jrbyFcxSP30U5qozB68UAN41SfSd3_5lSfNs6-az6z91jfpXlX85chellzm07BdwqdgLcrsjPLZJ5jEpUW6puIH-R-9PaVUYLBK4S3JI8UiIA/s1600/LOmain.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkPrpqxvpy9ft-as06F6-VUs_3izQ7_jrbyFcxSP30U5qozB68UAN41SfSd3_5lSfNs6-az6z91jfpXlX85chellzm07BdwqdgLcrsjPLZJ5jEpUW6puIH-R-9PaVUYLBK4S3JI8UiIA/s640/LOmain.jpg" width="552" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I feel like I'm losing the scrapbooking race. I'm a few years behind. But after talking to many of my crafty friends, I find that I'm not alone! So while I may be a bit behind, I have a few tips to keeping up with what can be an overwhelming task....scrapbooking your memories!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6jjhKFxi4KgwKDTaeIVIzf3Xid9kcg20x-ofJjcxhi8J3U9I9cKM_tu67ahrnfbUseBFixYM54RK1qxjtZDRy0RHQok6oIRjK2qK4uKklGf75if_89pHcx1QAYLi8eYjIJ5r0dOIePA/s1600/LO1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="245" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6jjhKFxi4KgwKDTaeIVIzf3Xid9kcg20x-ofJjcxhi8J3U9I9cKM_tu67ahrnfbUseBFixYM54RK1qxjtZDRy0RHQok6oIRjK2qK4uKklGf75if_89pHcx1QAYLi8eYjIJ5r0dOIePA/s400/LO1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>1. Organize your photos</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A little bit of housekeeping every few months means half the job of scrapping is done. Get your photos off of your phone or camera memory card and put them on your computer. Mine are in folders for each year, then separated into folders by event, ie: Mother's Day, Christmas etc. Then when I'm ready to actually scrap them, I can easily find the important events. Plus when they're on the computer, the date they were taken is also easy to see by hovering over the picture with my mouse. </div>

<b>2. Keep a Journal</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Details on events like the ones shown in these scrap pages are easy to remember (even a few years later). But if the event spans a few days, take some time to write down a few basic (or more if you have time) details of what's happening. It will make getting those memories on the page--and the journaling-- a breeze. </div>

<b>3. Don't Sweat the Small Stuff</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Do you feel like you don't have the perfect paper or embellishments to put together that special layout? Do it anyway! Your photos and the memories of them are the most important feature of your scrapbook. Sure those fancy things add some pizzazz, but in the whole scheme of things, a basic <u>finished</u> page is so much more appealing than pictures still in a box or on your computer! </div>

<b> 4. Scrap With Friends</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Sharing memories and getting helpful advice on layouts are just two of the perks of scrapping with your friends. Don't have friends who scrap? Go to a crop! You'll soon have plenty of new friends. Plus when you're with a group of dedicated scrappers, you can try out all of their tools!</div>
