Today I had to do one of the hardest things I've ever done.
I had to let my sweet boy Louie go.
He's been suffering heart failure for the past three months
and this weekend he took a turn for the worse.
We've been together for over 12 years and my heart is broken.
I'm not sure when I'll be back to blogging...it won't be long,
but for now I need to take some "Me" time
and give extra love and attention to Millie.

"Waiting for me with Mack at the Bridge"
The Rainbow Bridge Poem
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I am so sorry to read of your loss. I will be lifting you up in prayer. When we have "pets" (I put pets in quotes because they really become our family members too) the loss is tremendous. I pray in the days and weeks ahead the special memories of Louie bring you smiles to help lessen your pain.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm so sorry Cindy! HUGS!

ReplyDeleteyou are correct. It hurts so bad and takes some time to let up. I still hear my Gretal's collar with her tags on it, so I know she is still checking on me.

Think about all the wonderful times you shared with your best friend. Nobody can take those wonderful memories away. They will always be in your heart. I've recently lost a best friend, she was my girl Sydney (golden ret.)
ReplyDeleteTime is all it takes...
Take YOUR time, you're entitled to it. Hang tough.
