I love those vintage paper mache scary pumpkins and black cats. I decided to make some of my own using peat pots and Plaster of Paris. I will say that I did not have the best results with this method (which I found on Pinterest). Some of the pots turned out great, some okay, but most had to be dipped several times. Which meant it took a few weeks for them to really dry and harden up. I think next time, I'll try actual paper mache!
Once they were ready to paint, I had lots of fun designing their faces. I think that the cats ended up being my favorite as I could do lots of different expressions.
On the smaller pots, I added paper clay ears to the cats.
I'll be taking these jacks and cats (and lots more) to The Vintage Market in southern Michigan.
See me outside in Booth #230!
