I few weeks ago I showed you the invitations I created for my dad's 80th birthday party. Today I'm showing you the special card I made for him. I've long wanted to make a "Pop-Up Box Card" and was surprised how simple it is, especially if you haven an electronic cutter to cut it out!
First thing I did after researching how to make the box is make an SVG file for the basic card. (Keep reading if you would like to get that file). The basic card consists of these pieces (plus two small center inserts). I chose a sturdy card stock for the base and coordinating decorative paper for the panels. A quick cutting and some scoring and I was ready to assemble the box and decorate the inside. I did add another paper layer over the pink, simply cutting rectangles by hand. I also created all the birthday elements (balloons, gift box, party hat, noise maker) SVGs, which I will make available as soon as the CutAndCreate Store is back on line.
Clear acetate strips hold the elements and allow them to "pop" out of the box when it's unfolded.
Here's what the box looks like folded.
Recipient has no idea what fun awaits them when they open/unfold the card!
A couple more views of the box. I added Stickles to the "80"'s, on the bows of the presents and the fringe on top of the hats. I also added Stickles dots around the layered sentiment.
I used the Picket Fence Distress Marker to add the highlights on the balloons.
