This card will be featured tomorrow over at http://www.cardadayblog.blogspot.com/. As I've been having problems scheduling my posts lately, you get a sneak peek!
I think sympathy cards can be difficult to make. You want them to convey thoughts of comfort and peace to the recipent. I always feel pressure to do my very best work, so I think using a sketch helps take some of that pressure away. I save all the sketches I like (from either magazines or online) in folders so that when I need inspiration, it's right at my fingertips. The sketch for this card came from Sketches By Carly who's just 13 years old! She has lots of great ideas so bookmark her site.
As always I used all scraps to create this card. It's the best way to use them up! I knew the embellishment I wanted to use so the first thing I did was scrounge around for coordinating papers. I probably pulled out 20 pieces of paper in three color families--greens, peaches and browns. Then I decided which ones looked best together.
Here are the card details:
Base paper measures 5.5" x 5.5". I used 3 different designer papers plus two plain neutral shades (for the circle and banner). I used my Coluzzle to cut the circle and distressed all paper edges with matching shades of Distress Inks. The main embellishment is from Ashley Flower Embossed Stickers (a steal of a $1 deal that I've had in my stash for a looooong time). The sentiment is from MSEI "Sympathy Sentiments" and stamped with Coffee Archival Ink. I finished the card up with peach toned gems and ribbon.
Don't forget to come back tomorrow as I kick off NSD early!

Very pretty. I often find it hard to not have my sympathy cards be "too girly". I like that you used a lot of neutrals with the flower...makes it good for men and women.
